Greater St. Louis Regional Home Energy Efficiency Contest Winners
We chose to award three prizes in each of MO and IL:
Grand Prize Winner - $10,000 worth of comprehensive whole house assessments and home energy efficiency improvements.
Second Place Winner A comprehensive whole house assessment and $1,000 worth of home improvements.
Third Place Winner A comprehensive whole house assessment.

2007 Greater St. Louis Regional Home Energy Efficiency Makeover Contest General Guidelines
This contest is part of the Greater St. Louis Home Performance with ENERGY STAR program. For more information on this program and to obtain information on getting your own home assessment please check the Home Performance page on our website www.earthwayscenter.org. For information on the overall national program visit http://www.energystar.gov/index.cfm?c=home_improvement.hm_improvement_hpwes Our local Program Sponsors include Missouri Botanical Garden, AmerenUE, Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity and Missouri Department of Natural Resources.
Contest Timeline:
- Sept 29 Contest opens for electronic applications.
- Oct. 24 at 6:00pm Contest closes, forms no longer accepted.
- October 25-November 1 Contest Committee to review applications and choose winners one in MO and one in IL. MO winner must live in Ameren territory.
- Winners announced on the website the afternoon of November 2, 2007.
- Whole house assessments will be done in early November.
- Report to homeowner and meeting to choose which home improvements will be done conducted in early November.
- Complete home improvement work in November. This means the home must be available at this time.
- Post assessment to confirm work accurately completed done the end of November.
- Improved homes announced to media in early December.
Winner chosen based on:
- application information to assess houses that will best demonstrate the benefits of whole house assessments and home energy improvements
- willingness of homeowners to engage in process and need, based on their 250 word paragraph
- opportunity to use up to $10,000 worth of energy improvements, based on what they state their needs are
- opportunity to make a noticeable difference in utility bill amounts, based on an analysis of their utility bills
Winning Package:
Winners receive $10,000 of service costs include the home assessment and post assessment and the approved home improvements. Two winners will be chosen, one in Illinois and on in the AmerenUE territory of Missouri. Winners must be willing to participate with all media requests and possible contractor training during improvements.
