Camp EarthWays: Young Green BuildersStudents entering grades 5-8 will explore sustainable homes and neighborhoods and design a Green Dream House! Monday through Friday, July 7-11 2008
On a visit to an urban farm, campers discover landscaping ideas that are sustainable – and edible! Do you dream in Green? What do you imagine when you envision a fantasy Green home? During this week-long experience, campers investigate sustainable home design from the inside out: from dual-flush toilets to solar-tube lighting, from green roofs to rain gardens. Kids entering grades 5-8 will visit urban farms and off-grid abodes, navigating the city via public transportation. They will share ideas with professionals in the Green Building field, investigating future career paths. Each day campers will apply new ideas to their own Green Home design! At the end of the week, campers will present their home designs at an open house event. Each camp day will begin and end at EarthWays Center, located in mid-town St. Louis near the Fox Theater. Activities will be led by EarthWays Center staff, docents and guest presenters. Registration fee includes snacks and camp materials; students should bring a sack lunch each day. |
